If there’s one thing we learnt this weekend, it’s that everything is better when it’s pink!
We had 12 brilliant girls join us over two Barbie themed cooking sessions, there was pink everywhere, the girls got the memo about dressing up!
First up were our bright pink cheesecakes. The girls got to decide just how pink they wanted them to be, adding food colouring and experimenting until they found their perfect shade. They then used ALL the sprinkles to add some sparkle!
Then came our pink pasta pots. I had found some heart shaped pasta when I was in Italy, the girls were so excited to try it and loved that it had come all the way from Italy.
We tried out lots of different vegetables, including some that the girls hadn’t necessarily cooked with or even tried before. It’s always one of my favourite parts of these classes getting children to have a go at something new without the pressure of being told they have to like it.
We used beetroot to create a naturally pink sauce, which went perfectly with our heart shaped pasta. It was a great opportunity to talk about how we can use natural ingredients like beetroot to dye food.
